       Harnai Beach is One of the most attractive beaches in Dapoli, Harnai is a long flat beach with the Suvarnadurg Fort emerging in the horizons on the northern side and the vast range of sandy beach spreading up to Karde and further towards the southern side.

       Titled after one of the greatest visionaries the nation has seen to date, the Harnai beach or the Maharshi Karve Beach, is a vast range of sandy beaches. A very popular beach with bird watchers the northern end of Harnai beach almost always is filled with schools of seagulls. Paragliding is a regular point at the Harnai beach and you will find many people having joy riding their bikes on the beach here on the Harnai beach.

       The Durga Devi Temple is one of the most important temples right at the start of the way to the Maharshi Karve in Harnai beach. The Durga Devi temple was built way back in the 18th century with Durga Devi as the presiding deity with a pyramid-like roof of terracotta tiles, along with a lake and a hanging temple gong to the left of the main entrance.

       The photo gallery in the honor of the first Bharat Ratna laureate – Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve is from Harnai and well worth of visit if you want to see some of the most isolated and historic photographs of Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve and his struggles towards education for women and widow marriage. Though a small step to pay homage to a great man the effort is definitely laudable.

       Murud Harnai in a way is the center of all water sports ventures in Dapoli. Palande just before Murud on the way to Harnai which is also very popular for water sports. Parasailing is also organized at Murud beach in the evening especially on weekends and holidays. Jet ski rides and other popular water rides like banana rides and bumper rides are available in Murud.

       Harnai Fort is also the main spot for tourist attraction of the area.  The Palm-Fringed beach of Murud, famous for its clean white sands and safe waters.

How to reach:

  1. Khed railway station on the Konkan line is the nearest one which is connected by rail to Mumbai.
  2. Khed to Harnai Beach takes about an hour or more than that by the Taxi service. It is almost 41 km from Khed to reach Harnai Beach.
  3. By car, it takes 5 Hrs 45 mins from Mumbai to Harnai Beach.
