       Dapoli is a famous beach destination in the Kokan region of Maharashtra. It is situated in the northern part of Ratnagiri district. This is also called as Mahabaleshwar of Konkan. Due to the cold atmosphere, earlier the British had grabbed and established this place as their military base. So it is called as Camp Dapoli. Dapoli, Gimhavane, Jogale, and Jalgav are some of the crucial places in this Taluka. In 1980 Alfred Gad, a minister had started a high school. Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was also from Dapoli.

       Dapoli is famous for its Agricultural College. The natural beauty of Konkan has lured many people from the literary world. Dapoli served as the backdrop of the famous Marathi novel Garambicha Bappu by Shri Na. Pendse. Shyamchi Aai by Sane Guruji too describes Dapoli. It is the north taluka in Ratnagiri district. It is divided from the Sahyadri range by the Khed taluka. Dapoli has a seaboard of 50 km stretching from Bankot to Dabhol. The coastline varies little in its universal charades from that of other parts of Konkan. It is densely covered by coconut farms.
       With clean beaches, historical temples, caves, and forts spread around, Dapoli has something to offer everyone. The popularity of Dapoli is increasing these days with many visitors from Mumbai and Pune visiting it as a weekend destination.

How to reach:

  1. By Train at Khed is the closest railway station for Dapoli. It is 29 km away from the city of Dapoli.
  2. By Road: There are two routes to reach Dapoli from Mumbai. Dapoli is 240 km from Mumbai along NH-17 (Mumbai-Goa) & 180 km from Pune.
